Biopsy Procedures

Laparoscopic Liver Biopsy

A minimally invasive way to obtain a precise tissue sample from the liver, performed through a few small incisions so your care team can make an accurate diagnosis.

About The Procedure

A precise look, with minimal disruption

A liver biopsy takes a small sample of liver tissue so it can be examined under a microscope. It helps diagnose or stage liver conditions when imaging and blood tests alone are not enough.

A laparoscopic liver biopsy lets Dr. Talbert see the liver directly through a tiny camera and take a targeted sample through small incisions. This can be more accurate than a blind needle biopsy and lets him address concerns he sees during the procedure.

Dr. Talbert reviews your imaging and lab work, coordinates with your other physicians, and makes sure you understand why the biopsy is recommended and what the results will guide.
